KATONEMY
Katonemy are an indie-pop duo; Karen, based in Carmarthenshire (Southwest Wales) and Tony in Wiltshire (England). Their quirky brand of electro-folk inspired songs have a playfully philosophical twist.

The pair first started working together in 1997 (then called Tous), with Karen on lead vocals and multi-instrumentalist Tony on everything else. Their latest single Grains of Sand is 25 years in the making… first emerging in 1999 and unfinished when Karen relocated to Wales the following year. Both explored separate musical directions in their neighbouring countries until the two rekindled their songwriting partnership in 2019, following the release of Karen’s album Eurdy (as Hanner Chant); a compilation of her favourite musical collaborations, which included three of their songs – Lliwiau Enaid (a Welsh version of Show You Me), Elementary, and Nothing Worx. The latter was featured on Tom Robinson’s BBC Music Introducing Mixtape on 22 July 2019.
Grains of Sand is the first release in their reincarnation as Katonemy in June 2024. It’s an existential ballad that contemplates life, the universe, and everything (with genuine supermarket beeps). Their forthcoming album will contain fresh visions of their original 4-tack demos, alongside new material.
